Tasting Event Options:
- Tequila Brand. The first option is brand type. Multiple brands are usually appropriate for entertainment tasting events. Single brand events are preferred for marketing and promotional activities.
- Tequila Category. Tasting events can be either single type or multiple category of tequila. There two types of tequila. Pure tequila made from 100% blue agave and mixto tequila is made from 51% blue agave and 49% other sugars.
- Tequila Classifications. Tequila classification is the most complex variable in holding a tasting event. There are five Tequila classifications – Blanco, Joven, Reposado, Anejo and Extra Anejo. Blanco Tequila, also known as white, silver or crystal, is tequila is bottled after distillation without alterations. Joven Tequila is usually a white mixto Tequila. Joven Gold or Oro is Joven white with the addition of color and flavoring. Reposado Tequila is aged in oak casks for two to twelve months. Anejo Tequila is aged in oak casks for one to three years. Extra Anejo tequila is aged in oak casks for more than three years.
- Entertainment Tasting. This could be organized to be: Multiple brand, mixed type, and mixed classification. This combination would offer the greatest variety. A marketing tasting is usually single brand, single type, select classification. Competition Catas are usually multiple brand, single type, single classification.
